Elisa
Born in Zhejiang, China, Zejun (Elisa) Shi is currently a Fine Arts student at Parsons School of Design in New York.
Working across painting, digital media, and social practice art, her practice focuses on women's experiences, voice and self-expression, cultural memory, and the living conditions of marginalized communities. Through personal narratives, she explores voices that are often overlooked, suppressed, or difficult to articulate. Her work investigates how individual experiences intersect with broader social structures, emphasizing the importance of visibility, empathy, and public dialogue.
In addition to her artistic practice, Shi actively engages in social practice projects, arts education, and interdisciplinary research. She is particularly interested in the social role of art within public spaces and its potential to foster communication and collective reflection. Her experience includes theater stage design, multimedia production, community-based art initiatives, and international exhibitions.
Her work has been exhibited at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., and the Kyoto International Community House in Japan. She held solo exhibitions in Jing'an District, Shanghai, in 2024 and Yangzhou, Jiangsu, in 2025. Shi has received numerous honors, including the U.S. Congressional Art Competition Award, the Hong Kong Digital Media Competition Award, and recognition from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
